Chinese New Year is over and our staff is now back at work in full force for action. Last year was a very busy year for us. Our quality management work on high technology products continue to be on the upward climb. As you know, products such as smart phones, e readers and the new tablet type notebook were never affected by the Global Financial Crisis(GFC).

Our customers have continued to expand their needs for better supplier management of Chinese component suppliers for their high end product assemblies in China. In late 2009, we added technical personnel with complex component technical knowledge to our supplier quality engineering teams. Our customers are rolling out higher product demand for 2010. AMREP has used the Chinese New Year holidays to train its staff for better co-ordination with the new batch of customer suppliers.

The safety and usability rules of children's toys are constantly changing in the USA. The dangerous toy problems of the last two years have resulted in new safety and testing rules imposed by the USA government. Toy inspection has gone beyond simple quality and cost control.

AMREP supplier management techniques in high technological products are now being applied to toy making. In late 2008, our toy making customer engaged our services to take command of the quality and production supervision of its 200 China suppliers, from main producers to sub-component suppliers. Our assigned mission was to reduce the product recalls, improve the supplier's performance and to lead the customer China based quality inspection team in quality control techniques.

We continue to be very active in Malaysia. Work, however, has been declining in the Johor state of Malaysia where most component suppliers are located across the border from Singapore. Main reason is because many suppliers have relocated themselves in China. So customers have followed them.

However, we continue to be busy on printer parts components for major printer manufacturers. Up north in Penang and Kedah, our supplier quality engineering teams are still solving quality problems relating to aerospace composite materials.
